Hardiness Zones

What are Hardiness Zones?

A hardiness zone is a geographical area defined by its average annual minimum winter temperature. Gardeners and growers use these zones to determine which plants are most likely to thrive in a specific location.

The map above show the Hardiness Zones of the United States. the degrees in the key in the lower right hand corner shows the lowest temperature a certain place gets in winter. When looking for a plant or flower, it will tell you which hardiness zones it thrives in. Use this map to see if you live in one of the Hardiness Zones that the plant thrives in, but if you don't, the plant won't do so well if you try to plant it. Furthermore, some plants have multiple Hardiness Zones while others only have one or two.
